Super Sensory Snowy Fun in Primary 1!

31st Jan 2023

We have been enjoying some super sensory snowy play activities this half term as part of our 'Snowy Lands' topic.

Sensory play stimulates a child's sense of touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing, as well as allowing them to explore movement and balance. Engaging in sensory play encourages language development and allows children to improve their fine motor skills.

Sensory activities, as well as being extremely enjoyable, encourage children to explore and investigate, as they begin to develop 'scientific thinking' and problem solving.

Engaging in sensory play allows children the opportunity to relax, feel calm and be mindful and present in the moment.

As you can see from these photos, we have been enjoying the texture of shaving foam snow and modelling with sparkly snowy playdough. In the water tray we have been exploring polar animal habitats and the movement of water. We have had so much fun mixing 'pretend snow' using cornflour and baby oil - the children loved the silky feel of the dough and the smell of the baby oil.

Sensory Play is just 'snow' much fun!
