Year 4

Wow! It’s hard to believe that we are now in our final term. We have all recovered from our spectacular Spring Concert, in which the P4’s performed the popular musical, ‘Mary Poppins’. We had great fun learning all the songs and performing together in front of our family and friends.

This term our topic is 'World War II'. We will be learning all about this topic through all areas of the curriculum. We are especially looking forward to our World War II day, in which we will dress up as evacuees and experience what it may have felt like for children at that time.

In Numeracy we will be covering the topics of symmetry, rounding, weight, capacity, money, problem solving, fractions, pie charts and venn and carroll diagrams.

Our focus in Literacy will be on writing ‘letters’. We will explore and compare the format of formal and informal letters through various practical activities and towards the end of the term we will plan and write a letter from an evacuee. We will continue to cover lots of grammar and punctuation through the term as well as reading and comprehension activities.

We will continue our Spanish lessons with our tutor Montserrat and some of us are looking forward to using what we have learnt on our holidays this summer. We will also continue to enjoy our weekly PE sessions with our brilliant IFA sports coach. We started swimming at the end of last term and we really look forward to our weekly lessons. We hope the weather is kind this term so we can get outside for PE and get ourselves ready for Sports day!

The TOPS programme which was introduced last term has been fantastic and the P4s have been thoroughly enjoying all the activities available to them during break and lunch time!

This term will bring lots of fun activities and happy memories, with sports day, the PTA fun night, prize day, a visit from a theatre company and our end of year trip! No doubt there will be a few more surprises in-between!
